HOW SUITABLE IS GLOSA AS A CANDIDATE FOR ADOPTION AS THE IAL?
- Design is with English sentence structure, Italian pronunciation and
the Classical roots of Science for vocabulary. /
- As a "concept language" similar to the Chinese plan, Glosa requires
a little thought before speaking or writing. x
- With no morphological grammar, the unchnging words are easy to
learn, and do not need *topping and tailing* during machine processing. /
- Use of an "open plan" language, where there are no Part-of-Speech
Markers can prove difficult for those with poor, or undeveloped, language
skills. x
- It is very easily learnt in the first instance, with regularised
phrasal structure and a simple sentence plan. /
- The use of Classical roots from Science and the Euro-languages gives
advantage to educated populations and those whose languages are in the
Indo-European tradition. /
- Well-written Glosa is very easy to read, with modifications achieved
by placing particles before words, rather than by using inflections that
alter the appearance (and sound) of words. /
- As a pivot language, it is easy to translate into and out of; also,
where documents are provided in the IAL form, prior to translation into
the various national languages, educated people will be able to read the
IAL - Glosa - form without trouble. /
- The orthography is with standard ASCII characters, otherwise
described as the unadorned Roman script. /
- Little of the world's literature has been translated into Glosa as
yet: this is a disadvantage with both learning and reading practice. x
- The Infrastructure of the Glosa organisation is thin, and, as such,
much of the administration is conducted centrally. x
- Financial resources within Glosa are short, and, so, there is very
little money for basic research, which must be done by the authors and
supporters. x
- The language has been recognised by publishers, the EEC and some
educators. The Glosa Education Organisation has been granted charity
status in Britain. /
- No tertiary academic study of Glosa has been conducted. x
